Noua nava amiral a constructorului din Sant'Agata Bolognese a fost prezentata la sfarsitul saptamanii trecute in Singapore, aparitia unor informatii noi fiind astfel inevitabila. Din pacate, aspectul viitorului supercar ramane inca un mister pentru noi, la fel ca si denumirea oficiala - italienii au introdus modelul sub codul LP700-4, combinatie ce ar putea fi inclusa si in numele final.

Revenind insa la partea tehnica, trenul de rulare al noului Lamborghini Jota a fost desconspirat in totalitate. Un motor in 12 cilindri, cu o capacitate de 6.5 litri, dezvolta nu mai putin de 700 cai putere la 8.250 rpm si 690 Nm la 5.500 rpm, puterea urmand a fi transmisa tuturor celor patru roti (sistem de tractiune integrala Haldex) prin intermediul unei transmisii secventiale in sapte trepte. Chiar si asa, cutia de viteze cu un singur ambreiaj reuseste sa schimbe treapta in aproximativ 50 ms, supercarul italian bucurandu-se de o acceleratie de la 0 la 100 km/h in doar 2.9 secunde (!) si o viteza maxima de peste 350 km/h.

Iar asta nu e tot. Mai mult de atat, viitorul model de gala al constructorului din Sant'Agata Bolognese va beneficia de un sasiu monococ din fibra de carbon, greutatea totala urmand a cobori pana la aproximativ 1.436 kg (cu 229 kg mai putin decat Murcielago LP640!).

In ceea ce priveste aspectul exteriorul, Lamborghini Jota se va remarca printr-un sistem de evacuare cu patru tobe de esapament, jante pe 19, respectiv 20 inci, faruri cu LED-uri, stopuri inspirate de la Estoque si, nu in ultimul rand, printr-un plafon cu "cocoase" specific modelelor Zagato. Debutul va avea loc in primavara anului viitor, la Geneva Motor Show.

Lamborghini has divulged more details on the upcoming Murcielago replacement known as the LP 700-4.

New in those details is the body and chassis construction which will be made entirely from carbon fiber, according to Lamborghini's research and development head Maruizio Reggiani.

To create the LP 700-4's carbon fiber tub and body, Lamborghini partnered with U.S. aerospace company Boeing Corp. and the University of Washington for help in developing the material. The frame and body feature a stiffness of 35,000 Nm per degree of deflection. That's greater than in comparable supercars such as the Ferrari F50 (34,600 Nm) and the Koenigsegg CCR (28,100 Nm), and a huge improvement over the outgoing Murcielago (20,000 Nm).

The new 6.5 liter V12, upgraded from the previous unit with a different bore and stroke, doles out a remarkable 700 PS (690 bhp / 515 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. The gearbox, still supplied by Graziano Trasmissioni Group, is a 7-speed automatic (single clutch with dual sychronizers) with shift times of just 50 milliseconds when in "Corsa" (race) mode. For comparison, a Formula 1 racecar shifts in 40 ms. This transmission weighs 20 kg (44 lbs) less and take up less space than in the previous unit.

All that adds up to a curb weight of just 1575 kg (3,472 pounds) and with those construction details we get a better idea of how Lamborghini arrived at a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of only 2.9 seconds for the model, likely to be called the Aventador. Top speed is 350 km/h (217 mph).

The car also features a Haldex all-wheel-drive system and carbon ceramic disc brakes - 400mm at the front and 380mm at the rear. The F1-style suspension features horizontal dampers connected to double wishbones.

Lamborghini has trademarked the Aventador name in the United States but we still await Lamborghini's confirmation on the naming of the LP 700-4.

The model is scheduled to make its debut at the Geneva auto show in March.
