2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs. 2013 Nissan GT-R vs. 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S

+ Third: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Highs: Instant response from the thunder button, club-racer handling, improved seats, one transmission only—a manual.
Lows: Costs more than 100 grand but is not a ZR1, darty and demanding on a freeway.
Verdict: Every day is track day.

+ Second: 2013 Nissan GT-R
Highs: Never fails to inspire awe, both the cheapest and the quickest, non-retro and proud of  it.
Lows: Detestably heavy, odd-looking, the transmission rattles, can be slow to boot up and deliver.
Verdict: Run on rails in your own private bullet train.

+ First: 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S
Highs: Unmistakably a Carrera, easier to live with but loses none of the edge, seats win the orthopedic Olympics.
Lows: Lots of good stuff costs extra, no longer feels small or intimate.
Verdict: More of what purists love about the 911 and less of what everybody else doesn’t.
